Raise your voice
Its funny how you sometimes meet the right person at the right thime, or the person who knows the right person.
A couple of weeks ago I joined a new gym in the town where I know live. Why I decided on this gymis because you have "free" access to the swimming pool in your memebership. For my it means that I only have to tay one monthly fee for swimming and training (yes I'm going indoors for the winter season).
Its has all been good and for the last 3 weeks I have attended over 10 classes (ie I have spend some time at the gym), but I am so not happy with their service.
You don't feel welcome whenwalking through the door, there was no introductory information what so ever when I signed up (I had to ask the following day where I find womens lockerrooms AND where the room for dance classes are located).
This feeling that you are not welcome and that its only certain memebers you pay attention to have increased over the few weeks. I have actually considered trying out other gyms and paying the double fee for swimming and traning just to feel more welcome.
Today I talked to one of my collagues and she qas asking how I like my new town, if I had started training at a gymyet etc etc and I told her what I was feeling. Turns out her husband is head manager at this gym.
So it was decided that after danceclass today I will met him and tell him about how I see the service and be informed about what services the gym actually offers.
Sometimes its good to be a bit disapointed about things..

Sports bra addiction
It all started in early July when I realized that my sports
bra I use for work at the aquarium had lost its shape. When I raised my arms it followed and you can imagine when you have a job with a lot of lifting, twisting, carrying, moving, jumping etc its not ultimate.
I decided to just get a new one for work in a cool colours since I had two good ones for when I work out. But after I bought I new one I realized that my other two were a little worn and Adidas by stella mcCartney had a really nice canary yelow that I have been droooling over quite a while.
I bought that one as well, and then I realized I need a new one with thinner straps and bought that one and then I found a black/grey one that I can use as a layer when using tops that have no back etc when working out.
So that is 4 sportsbras in 1 month (july-august) guess what I just found online......
Yes another cool sports bra (no I did not buy it).
Is there a rehab centre for sports bra addiction?

Sore
Last year I was asked by our new principal to take over the mentorship on a student and then another. This is something that is quite unusual that a student switshes between differnt mentors.
The only time thus occurs is when a mentor either quits or there has been a trust issue. Yes some people donot work well together and that is also a student/teacher relationship when it comes to mentoring.
During my five year carrer I have had one student to demand changing to another mnetor from me, and now one asking for me specifically even though I didn't even belong to the correct mentor team.
Well this student is a little special it has a terrible disease it is living with and we have to make special arangements around it. The lastest is "mentor time" that is a designated hour a week I'm supposed to me this student. This student needs to workout at the school gym at least ones a week and well some one (read med) felt this was the perfect time and place to meet. INstead of having the horrible across the desk meeting with me having a notepad and writing down everything we say, why not have an hour at the gym instead?!
Well me being me cannot be at the gym just walking around. The student wants company, not someone sitting of their time with them. So in between the sessions where it needed help I worked out. WE are talking 45 min work ot with low weights half hearted since there were som many things that needed to get storted this time. Why then are my legs and bum litterally killing me after a 1x10 lounges session and 10 min on a bike??? The rest were uppebody of helping the student.....

9460 that is my place in previous weekendes Tjejmilen that I ran in Stockholm.
Tjejmilen is one of the largets runing races in the world for females. Its all from the Elite, to runners, joggers, walkers etc.
My journey toward this race started in end of May after I had dome a health check up for my new job at the aquarium. After being informed that my physical age was 43 I decided that I need to ASAP start to work out and get back into my old shape. But what to do?
Studying fulltime and working partime does not make you rich, when your university is in another city from where you live and work. I had promised myself that after the thesis was presented and handed in I would start to take better care of my body and start working out.
The same day as I did that health check I went for my first run inover a year with one of my friend and her dogs, the following week a colleague and friend joined me for a run. Poor thing really had to run slow to keep up with me and had to walk when I was totally completely out of breath, We ran 5 km.
She asked me then if I would like to join her team for Tjejmilen. She needed a fourth person to complete the team. I said yes, but at that time I only had one goal. To run the entire 10 km race, but the time was not important at all.
That was in may, during the summer I have done some 5 km hillystreet runs in Lysekil where I have been living the last 2 months. I have not run as much as I have wished due to a quite physically challenging work including scuba diving, walking in the ocean collecting algea and well being on your legs non stop for a minimum of 5 hrs a day.
Last week I ran my first 10 km in over 10 years time. I felt like I was going to die a couple of times and when my freind on the 8 km wanted me to incerase the speed a little I had no energy left in my body. I finished that run on a decent time 63min.
Sat a new goal for the race on saturday: To run under 60 min.
I never made that time goal unfortunately with a finishing time on 1,04,58 I should be pleased. Starting late in the race with people everywhere and me spending more time on trying to figure out how I can overtake the slower ones + the rain. Some where between the 6th and 7th km the rain started to pour down. We are talking the muddy puddles on the gravel parts of the track turned into lakes, the uphill on the 9th km had a small stream running down and the finsihing line as just a huge mudlake.
But I did it I ran the whole 10 km track!!!
Now my goal for next year to be able to seed into atleast starting group 3. That is I need to run an official 10 km race faster than 58 min. But I can do it I know it.
In may I'm supposed to run a half marathon. Here I am actually wondering what was I thinking!! 10 km is far, 21km is light years away. I am starting to train for this next week already!

Running
Yes, I know there must have been at least one person that hickuped on that one. Running out doors also.
A colleague of mine talked me into running "tjejmilen" next Saturday and I have a mission to actually run göteborgs varvet next year.
I am a little nervous for next Saturday since I to this date haven't run I over 7,5 km yet. But my goal is still to run under 70 min.....

Working condition?!
I got a question yesterday if I really needed new runners and how I could justify buying two pairs when on a shopping ban.
To put some statistics in how much I wear on my shoes.
1) my runners are 2 years old
2) I tend to walk more than run, but I still run from time to time
3) since I got the Nike+gps app in October I have walked a minimum of 360 km (actually recorded)
4) Look at the health of my soles.... Yes it's an actual hole in the bottom of my sole
Do you still think its not justified to buy two good pairs for the price of one. Well not my problem

Beach 2012
I guess its best tp start early...
Especially now when I have the perfect opportunity to shape my body exactly as I want.
Started camly on thursday with 60 min Bodyjam and today I stepped up the challenge to 45 min Coreball and 55 min Zumba.

Over confident
Since my dads accident I have for some obvious reasons lost quite a bit of weight. Not eating for 3 days kind of does that to you. After that I have managed to get sick twice which have increased my weightloss.
Feeling confident since my favorite pair of jeans is falling of that all my other older pairs would fit me perfectly I yesterday pulled out my favorite 3/4 jeans and tried to get them on.
Mind you these have always bin bodyhugging, but trying to put them on after a heavy workout was asking alittle to much. Thismorning though they are feeling a little less tight.

Beach 2012
Its a year ago today that I feel in the slope and folded my left elbow the wrong way. Its still not a happy camper, but finally I can start working out properly. Have to be careful not to over work it and not fast unplanned moves. Yes weight in the wrong way & it disconnects itself.
Last week I did sign up for the gym again and it feels so good to be able to work the entire boody again. Its quite amazing fast you feel you body tightening up when working the muscles. Its also scary in how bad shape I'm in.
Since its Mexico this summer there will not be much beach 2011 (rings a bit wrong doesn't it). I will be working 6-7 days a week and will not be living by the ocean.

Granny
Ok my shaken muscles have now given up and instead they behave like stiff rods. I move around the flat like I'm an old granny over 100yrs old or in my final days of pregnancy.
The worst bits are standing up, sitting down or taking clothes on and off.
Am planning to workout tomorrow, but not sure how much I will manage after the warm up session.

Work out goal
Its going downhill with working out at the moment. Working 50hrs a week at the moment is not helping and also having frozen my gymmembership is no good.

Ipod nano + nike sensor
I really like the idea with the NIke+ sensor for you Ipod. But I'm not a huge fan of the batterychewing habits that it does. I can have a fully charged battery. Turn it off throw it into my back with aims to use it the next day while I'm traveling. If I forget turn set it on hold in that mode it will start up witch means that when I then going to use it I have no batteries left.
This week when I went to Finland I was good almost all the time, but forgot to turn it of at one moment. That means this morning when I was going for my walk I had no batteries left in my ipod.
To say the least this is starting to really really annoy me!

Beach 2010 trial 2
Ok trial 2. Fingers crossed that my elbow holds up and that there are no more major accidents this spring that will keep me off the track.
I'm not allowed to put any wieght on it, but will try a bodyjam class to see how that goes and when I start uni this week I'll start using the treadmill where I'll be staying.
