When the sun came out

I am looking through the photos that I have on my SD card in my camera. It has been a while since I actually felt like taking a photo or dealing with them afterwards.

I cam up on this from Kolmården this fall. I had been photographin the animals on the savannah and suddenly the sun came out, I didn't realise this fast enough and had different settings.

I do like the cool effect of the zebras.....

It also gives you a perspective how different animals see different things depending on how their eyes are located (2D or 3D) and if you are a monocromati, dicromatic or tricromatic animals.

A Klash of Kings

A Klash of Kings
By: George R.R. Martin

Book two in the game of thrones series. As with the previous book I find myself more reading the book and waiting for events to occur than actually enjoying what has been written on the pages. I like it but am to distracted from the TV series. I hunt for differences and subtle changes in all the chapter find myself analysing how they did this or that. Everything just feels like a prolonged journey until I can open book three and actually get to enjoy each page as they should be enjoyed: With anticipation, dread and curiosity.

Beacause of this I will only give it a three.

Page count: 3 215 + 969 = 4 184

Cleaning out my closet

Three years ago I did a raid in my closet at removed all items that were to small and put them into a box. Fall of 2011 I pulled about 75% out of that box and into my wardrobe because they fit  me again. Hello weight loss.

The remaning 25% I gave away to charity.

This weekend I am planning to do a reverse closet cleaning. All items that are to large will be put into a box and put into storage. Yes I am quite ceratin that I will fit into these clothes at one point in my life. Yes there are pieces of clothing that look good baggy and then there are those you sort of look sick like you have an eating disorder in. Those are the items that gets to move into stogare for now.

Wear and tear

I am a person that loves to shop and buy new things. But I am also a person that never ever ever throw away items that are not worn to pieces.

I have managed to convince myself on several occasions that I need to give items to charity and that I do.

what I find interesting is how much underwear some people seem to be purchasing a year. I think on average I might buy 2 new bras a year and knickers I have no clues (I buy those when I'm in desperate need of new ones). Yes since I have a small bra size I know that I don't put as much strain on them as a person with a D-cup. But still. How many bras do a person need honestly?

Will get back some day on these thoughts.....

The disapointment

I didn't get the job!

I can deal with that. But what they told me and they real reason... well those stories are not matching up.

My BIG issue with this is why not just tell me that they had found a more suitable candidate?!
Instead of asking me to apply for the position in june when it comes out again?

2012 through the rearview mirror

2012 the year my blog died. Or almost.

I have had all intentions to blog almost everyday, but about what?

My anciety attacks that ripped my life apart. They started easter 2011 and calmed down in june 2012. But until then almost everyday was a struggle. Yes Mexico was not to bad, I had other things to focus about, but when I came home I fell apart.

In 2012 I completed my master thesis, I graduated from university with a masters degree in science AND I dared to stand up when I couldn't take it anymore.

If 2011 was a highspeed rollercoaster with extreme highs and lows, 2012 was a struggle. To make it out of bed, to write my thesis, to stand infront of the class teaching. I have had panicattacks at work not nowing how to hold it together, I have cried, cired and cired until there were no more tears.
There were months were I hardly slept at all. 2-3hrs undistrubed sleep was a dream come true.

And then came June, a new job for a couple of months. No everything during this time was not a dance on roses, there were hard times. But oh SO many good times and the friends I made during this summer. You guys helped so much.

My other friends I know who you are and where I have you guys. That all of you had the energy to stand beside me, hold me up, push me forward, listen, listen, listen and give good advice. There is no way that I ever can repay what you have done for me. I love you guys with all my heart and more.

This fall has been slow, oh so slow, the waiting for something to happend. Right now when I write this and try to sumarize my year I can honestly say that there has been alot of crazy nights with to much alcohol, guys, ice cream, pizza and freinds!

2012 was also the year I started to run. I ran tjejmilen on 64.58 min and am planning to next year run SUB60!

to sumarize 2012 this was the year when I closed doors that needed closing, basically straightened out many questionarks!

2013 feels like the year of change!

Is it the wind of change i sense?

I have a job interview on monday. So so so excited....

I made a phonecall to a school to ask about an application, 10 min later an interview was booked and they hadn't even looked at my CV yet.

I have not been a normal person at work after this phonecall. Howering around in the blue is more like it.

Todays to do list

Its sunday, I'm home (for the second weekend in a row!). I have my to do list ready and need to get started. Its a couple of weeks until I have a sunday at home again.

 On todays list:
  • Clean flat study (homework 2 due today)

  • run (have a couple of km's left to run this week)
  • Reorganise clothing storage (wardrobe, drawers, floor, etc)

Sommar-HAJK outro 2.0

I woke up this morning with this song in my head. With the bright coloured leaves outside my bedroom window and rain pooring down it sort of felt fitting to lounge for summer.

New knickers

I have updated with some new knickers lately. Well know all now that there will be no fun between the bed sheets until the knickers are all worn out.

Or this I have been informed. Must be s Murphy's law for single women or something like it!!

Essentiell running clothes

Yes more things! How much do I need? Well fall arrived and with fall we have below zero degrees (ie cloves, beanie and warmer tights) then there is the issue about daylight (ie nice looking reflex jacket) and chinsplints (try compression socks)..

Now I'm set! Until winter and ice arrives (hello icebugs)

Wednesday, October 10

Sustainable wardrobe

This fall I have almost my complete wardrobe in one place, ony city. There are some exceptions that is still at my parents place, but this has given me a chance to actually see what I have, what I need and what I use.

Yhea the last part I should have knows clearly from having my wardrobe divided into three, but hey I'm only human. I like buying clothes and well apprently that is a bad thing, since I'm throwing away my money instead of saving them (yadda yadda yadda). For 8 months I have only bought necessary items like new running clothes, bra. I made two slipups: one pair of shoes for €5 and then a bikini for €8.
That was until I got my massive paycheck in end of august. Since then I have updated my wardrobe with some ehm essentials(links for pictures to previous posts):

Then we have the things that I just fell in love with
Things that I still need to get this fall
  •  winter runner tights
  • icebugs (if I continue to run in winter that is)
  • winter/fall boots (I have no allaround boots anymore)

Elsas hemlighet

Elsas hemlighet
By: Sofi fahrman

I have finally gotten around to read the last book in the triology about Elsa the fashion blogger by Sofi Fahrman (here you can read my reviews from the first and second book). Yes I was not impressed by the first book, neither the second and surprise the third is the same.

Yes it is easy to read and you finish it quickly, but I just hate the moral in the book: You can basically screw up as many times possible with your boyfriend AND still get him back, You can make a severe fool of yourself in your job AND still keep it, you can make a fool of yourself in almost any possible living situation AND still have your dignity!

Yes I know its fiction, but this is soo wrong, it gives the stupid blond fashion loving girl that has no brain stamp. I know there are many smart blond fashion loving girls that has managed to make careers without sheer luck/ sleeping their way to the top. yes Elsa the main caracter apperently has a sharp eye for details and is good at what she does, but why is she still so stupidly naive in the third book, make so many rookie mistakes that I am honestly to be ashamed to be a woman that loves fashion, has a brain and now how to behave in many of the sutuations Elsa clearly does not, but she still manages to keep her cred in the fashion world?!

Oh well chicklit as it should be I guess. If you want to hide behind the pillow, be annoyed at blond stupid girls well read it and learn how NOT to behave!

I give it a 2.

Sunday plans

So this is my first sunday at home in my apartment with no plans at all since ehm earliest May.
Yes you read right I have  not spent a whole weekend in my flat since may (it might even be april) at home taking it easy, okok correction! I have not spent a whole weekend at home since april!

Today we had open house at work, so surprise no quite relaxing saturday at home, instead 6hrs work.
When I got home I had aboust of energy and thourougly cleaned my bathroom, showered my plants (yes afterwards in my shiny clean bathtub(clearly wasn't thinking here)).  A little bit more cleaning, like windows and mirrors, aire out my bedlinnens and freshly made my bed.

Tomorrows plans are to:
head to a big flea market in a nearby town
reorgnaise my bedroom
spanish homework (due tomorrow)
5 km run (lets pray I'm well enough to do this)
make lunch boxes

1 hour

1 hour that is how long I lasted at work today before I had to see myself defeated and head back home to bed.

The day will be spent in bed reading a book or on the couch infront of a movie

Tuesday, October 2

Tuesday 2 october

It is not often it happens, but today I just had to see myself defeated. At 3pm I threw in the towel, went home and crashed in my couch.

I felt a little better around 6pm which is luckily becasue I have laundry tonight, headed down all the stairs and when I came back up 10 min later I felt like I had done a 5km run instead of starting 4 loads of laundry.

Fingers crossed that I wake up tomorrow and feel a lot better.

Running inspiration

Two weeks ago I stumbled over Josephine's marathon blog.
Josephine is one of swedens top marathon runners. If you want to feel inspired to run, her success, workout regime, failure and coordinating work at the same time training on elite level. Head over to her blog: Lille kenyanen.
It's in Swedish so for you international readers, try google translate.

I just live the way she writes and yes I am a little biased. We are distantly related (just had to brag)....

Sunday, September 9

Upside down inside out

I feels like i have gone in a roller coaster whirlwind at the moment.

I din't know where to stand, how to stand. Need to go for a long run to clear my mind

Satuday night

Had a great plan for this Saturday. Go out for a dinner with colleagues and then meet a friend for some partying! All went well until I was waiting forctge tram to go to heaven 23.

Let's just say broken glass, blood, plastic bag, taxi, er, home, more blood was more the turn of events for me.

Result:

À trend?

I think I can sense a new trend in my wardrobe:

Navy/black skirt/dresses/tunics

3 of my latest purchases
Navy see through acne skir
Navy wyhred dress
Black gestuz skirt (gotta love the back)

The Horror lamp

I have been given a room with a nightmare lamp!
Ok I sleep with my blinds open because I love to wake up by natural light, but a lamp without a switch that you can't turn off. That is like falling asleep wile reading, you wake up at obscure hours of the night trying to figure out if there is a way to rip out the lightbulb without frying your fingers on the spotlight.

Friday, September 7

Weekend plans

This weekend I am spending working at liseberg amusement park in Gothenburg. I will work here promoting my work and of course go one some good dollar coaster while getting paid. Did I mention that occasionally I just love my job?!

And to top it all of we are staying in gothiatowers located in central gothenburg.

The sparkly bra

Next in line after the dress was logging onto instagram and there on style by Tyra's shop was the sparkly sequin bra. I have been chasing funny bratops since Mexico, but only found lace ones. So I decided for the ooooh so descrete sparkly bra instead....

A little bit of shopping

My shopping an lasted until the 17th of August. Yes I broke my promise on my birthday when I found a dress I had been drooling over all summer on 70% of the 50% sale. Yes it was almost free from the original price.

I have worn it since and got so much praise for it.

Thursday, September 6

Sore

Last year I was asked by our new principal to take over the mentorship on a student and then another. This is something that is quite unusual that a student switshes between differnt mentors.

The only time thus occurs is when a mentor either quits or there has been a trust issue. Yes some people donot work well together and that is also a student/teacher relationship when it comes to mentoring.

During my five year carrer I have had one student to demand changing to another mnetor from me, and now one asking for me specifically even though I didn't even belong to the correct mentor team.

Well this student is a little special it has a terrible disease it  is living with and we have to make special arangements around it. The lastest is "mentor time" that is a designated hour a week I'm supposed to me this student. This student needs to workout at the school gym at least ones a week and well some one (read med) felt this was the perfect time and place to meet. INstead of having the horrible across the desk meeting with me having a notepad and writing down everything we say, why not have an hour at the gym instead?!

Well me being me cannot be at the gym just walking around. The student wants company, not someone sitting of their time with them. So in between the sessions where it needed help I worked out. WE are talking 45 min work ot with low weights half hearted since there were som many things that needed to get storted this time. Why then are my legs and bum litterally killing me after a 1x10 lounges session and 10 min on a bike??? The rest were uppebody of helping the student.....

The proud muddy runner

A photo was snapped just when I was about to hit the shower. Yes was still wearing my medallion. Just pulled a sweatshirt on and jumped on the next tram home, no time to clean the legs of the mud. If you look closely you can see that my toes are black. That is mud, see previous post to have a look at our shoes

Five star cooking

9460

9460 that is my place in previous weekendes Tjejmilen that I ran in Stockholm.
Tjejmilen is one of the largets runing races in the world for females. Its all from the Elite, to runners, joggers, walkers etc.

My journey toward this race started in end of May after I had dome a health check up for my new job at the aquarium. After being informed that my physical age was 43 I decided that I need to ASAP start to work out and get back into my old shape. But what to do?

Studying fulltime and working partime does not make you rich, when your university is in another city from where you live and work. I had promised myself that after the thesis was presented and handed in I would start to take better care of my body and start working out.

The same day as I did that health check I went for my first run inover a year with one of my friend and her dogs, the following week a colleague and friend joined me for a run. Poor thing really had to run slow to keep up with me and had to walk when I was totally completely out of breath, We ran 5 km.

She asked me then if I would like to join her team for Tjejmilen. She needed a fourth person to complete the team. I said yes, but at that time I only had one goal. To run the entire 10 km race, but the time was not important at all.

That was in may, during the summer I have done some 5 km hillystreet runs in Lysekil where I have been living the last 2 months. I have not run as much as I have wished due to a quite physically challenging work including scuba diving, walking in the ocean collecting algea and well being on your legs non stop for a minimum of 5 hrs a day.

Last week I ran my first 10 km in over 10 years time. I felt like I was going to die a couple of times and when my freind on the 8 km wanted me to incerase the speed a little I had no energy left in my body. I finished that run on a decent time 63min.
Sat a new goal for the race on saturday: To run under 60 min.

I never made that time goal unfortunately with a finishing time on 1,04,58 I should be pleased. Starting late in the race with people everywhere and me spending more time on trying to figure out how I can overtake the slower ones + the rain. Some where between the 6th and 7th km the rain started to pour down. We are talking the muddy puddles on the gravel parts of the track turned into lakes, the uphill on the 9th km had a small stream running down and the finsihing line as just a huge mudlake.

But I did it I ran the whole 10 km track!!!
Now my goal for next year to be able to seed into atleast starting group 3. That is I need to run an official 10 km race faster than 58 min. But I can do it I know it.

In may I'm supposed to run a half marathon. Here I am actually wondering what was I thinking!! 10 km is far, 21km is light years away. I am starting to train for this next week already!

Thursday, August 30

This week

This week so far:

I have run 10 km just over the hour
Worked way to much
Slept longer than I thought possible
Done laundry
Packed my bag for the weekend
Signed up a half marathon this spring (what were I thinking?!)

Sunday, August 26

Some gym clothes

This running thing and being bad in updating your outdoor gym clothes collection has resulted in a severe expansion of my gym clothes wardrobe.

This summer I have invested in some short:

Nike running tights

Reebok EA7

Adidas cool fit cotton

Cross jacket

Stay in place sports bra

Rönish Singlet

Nike lunarglide3+

365

365 that is how many days it has taken me to partially unpack my laptopbackpack that used in Mexico. Now it's even stored away and what is left in it is stuff that I keep in all my bags

Books in the reading pile.

Since I have completely lost track of what books I have read and have been horrible, horrible in updating this part. I am starting it over from today.

I have added the books I read last year into the page count, but will not give a review over them (to long since I read them).

The books I have read this year I am actually a litte unsure of, but have started the page count 2012 and will just list them below.

So from today its serious books reviews and updates that is on the agenda.
Might be that I do give review over the Hunger games series.

Books read to date in 2012:
  • The hunger games (book 1) by: Suzanne Collins, page count: 454
  • The hunger games Catching fire (book 2) by: Suzanne Collins, page count 475
  • The hunger games mocking jay (book 3) by; Suzanne Collins, page count: 454
  • Altar of Bones by: Philip Carter, page count 631
  • The wheel of time Knife of dreams (book 11) by: Robert Jordan, page count 761

Saturday, August 25

Running

Yes, I know there must have been at least one person that hickuped on that one. Running out doors also.

A colleague of mine talked me into running "tjejmilen" next Saturday and I have a mission to actually run göteborgs varvet next year.

I am a little nervous for next Saturday since I to this date haven't run I over 7,5 km yet. But my goal is still to run under 70 min.....

Its time to shape up

I am not talking about my physical fitness here, because that one is actually improving. I have great plans for fitness fall 2012 (hahahaha)

But I am talking about my lack of blogging action. Not sure what has happened, I plan to blog even know what to write about, but before I know it two or more days has passed and nothing has been written.

I know this is a clear sign that I need to slowdown quite a lot and go back to basics. I am trying.

My weeks at the moment are: Work, run, sleep, do something fun on the weekend and then back on the work, run sleep mode again.

And you know what I think it is helping. I feel less stressed even though from day to day I think my colleagues are seriously contemplating having me tested for an ADHD diganosis (no joke) or they suspect at least that I have forgotten to take my medication.

Maybe one day I will learn how to relax and take one day at a time. At least I have managed to move down to one month at a time, we are working on the weekly bits as we speak.....

Saturday, August 11

Only three days to go

I only have three days left on my summerjob.
I hope that they will keep me on the books for working extra weekends this off season and hopefully I will be back next summer.
The only thing is that next summer I will not be available to work as much as I have done this year.
I am actually starting to feel desperately that after working/ studying almost every single day for over 2 years my body has had enough.

From wednesday I will for a while only have one job to focus on. In september my spanish course starts, but until then I will try to take it slow and relax on my spare time of work.

OMG

I am starting to study Spanish at the university this fall.

I'm starting on the beginners level and my goal is to be able to teach in spanish on high school level in the end. From my starting point that is 2 years fulltime Spanish studies.

My goal is within a 5 year period have completed the requirements.
But how many books do you actually need for one course?!

Of course there is the dictionary, but 5 ?! coursebooks on top of that for a 30 credit course....

Sass & bide jeans

I think it's soon time to say goodbye. I was hoping for a longer relationship in terms if shorts, but after 10 years there is not enough fabric in the bum to keep it intact anymore.

The day we part you will dearly be missed, comfier jeans is impossible to find even though we have had our ups and downs in the past.
